In August 2023, the Collabi Team and Ors. were given a tour of the recently topped out T3 Collingwood development, Melbourne’s tallest mass timber office building.
The project team at Hines, ICON, Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCB), XLam Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH), and TPC Solutions kindly showcased the development and the sustainable CLT and GLT technologies employed to achieve a 34 % emission reduction.
In this interview, specialist investor Green Files provides insights from one of our guides, Mei Doery of ICON, the project manager responsible for leading the development.
Mei provides insights into the building process and what was achieved through industry engagement, but she also calls for a collective effort.
“The industry will never really gain momentum if only a few are working with timber. We need to uplift the market together, which will increase the demand and improve the supply chain offering, expertise and opportunity.”
